Virtual Session: Patricia

Virtual Session: Patricia from The Little Cottage on the Pond

My plan was to be asleep by 8PM tonight after a long, full, happy day, but I have to come back on here to gush about Patricia, the creative genius behind Little Cottage on the Pond. We had a virtual personal styling session yesterday afternoon (she's in Texas, I'm in Virginia), and it was the most fun.
Here's what it looks like on my end-here is my studio where I sit to do my virtual sessions.

When she first contacted me, she included her blog name, and I, of course, took a look at it. Little did I realize, I already had her blog bookmarked because I had seen a reference to her on Miss Mustard Seed's site. What a small world! As I looked through her blog, I came upon her post about her daughter, which was one of the most touching things written by a parent about a child that I have ever read. If you scroll through her incredible blog you'll find it.

She was a great sport about doing a virtual session-and we bonded over our love of stripes! She carried her iPad all around-I think I counted four rooms of the house I was "in." She put things on, showed them to me, and then ran around finding pieces to add or swap out when I said things like "It would be fun if you had a cardigan that was a similar color to add to that!" She shared with me that her routine has been to wear jean capris and a t-shirt, and I thought we could do better than that! In the end, I think she was happy with what came through: she has a great eye for vintage, feminine clothing with an easy, comfortable vibe that fits perfectly with her life as an artist and mother in Texas. I felt like I could see her personality and her inner light coming through the screen the more the clothes on the outside matched that big heart on the inside. I loved it!

But, since it was virtual, I don't have any pictures to share with you. However, she took a few pictures of her clothes laid out (like the soft, feminine pinks above) and maybe she'll update soon with some outfit shots! With four kids, I know she's got plenty to do aside from snapping photos! Be sure to read what she thought about it all here. It made me blush!

You can also take a look at the Pinterest board I set up for her here!

Update: here she is rocking a big Texas belt, rolling up her sleeves and cinching in that waist, showing that a brown palette can be sophisticated. Or here! Gah! So beautiful! And I love how confident she looks!

  2. Hi, found your site via Miss Mustard Seed. Just reading your blog posts inspired me to grab some scarves so that I would have 3 things to put on every day for work (pants, top, scarf) - then I even added earrings. at the end of the week, one of my staff handed me an "award" for being the best dressed all week :)
Next on my list it to pick up some belts (I'd given up belt wearing many pounds ago but you've shown me that even the rotund can work the belts.) Keep up the great work!

  3. I found your site through Miss Mustard Seed and The Little Cottage on the Pond. I can dress my house so to speak but lately I can't seem to dress myself. I find myself putting on sweatpants and t shirts splattered in paint. Currently I'm a stay at home mom who really doesn't have a reason to get dressed. Or so I thought. It wasn't until I read two of my favorite blogs and saw what you did for them that had me thinking I should put a little more effort in what I wear. Yesterday I was heading to the farmers market and my son asked my husband why is mom dressed up? I had on a Country Living t-shirt,jeans and chucks. I said this is not dressed up and his response was it is for you. You have inspired me to look through my closet and try to put outfits together. I may be contacting you for a consult. In the mean time I'm gong to give the mascara trick a try and purchase some of the Outlast lip stain you recommended. I'm looking forward to following your blog.
